Description
29 Fore Street is an earlier 18th century front to a building that dates back to the 16th or 17th century. It has a modern extension at the rear and stands three storeys tall with four windows. The roof is hipped and covered with Welsh slate, featuring a blocked-out eaves cornice. The east end of the building retains a masonry party wall and a wall-stack made of Devonian limestone rubble, which is partly slate hung. The front is plastered and timber framed, with first-floor window bays separated by wooden Doric pilasters that support an entablature adorned with triglyph friezes and linking cornices. The slightly recessed sash windows have exposed boxing and glazing bars, with wrought iron window guards on the first floor. There is a modern shop front.
