Description
The lodge, gatepiers, and railings located approximately 330 metres northeast of Greenway House were built in 1850 and serve as the gate lodge to Greenway House. This small lodge is designed in the Italianate style, constructed from coarsed stone rubble with dressed stone details. It features a low-pitched hipped slate roof with oversailing bracketed eaves and corner pilasters. The building is single-storey and consists of three bays.
A central gabled porch is adorned with ornate fretted bargeboards that include a pendant, a round arch, and a quoin vault, supported by square piers with imposts. The porch contains a moulded ledged door, while on either side, there are two-light casements with glazing bars, slightly cambered arches, and key stones. An armorial shield displaying the date 1850 is located in the gable of the porch. At the rear, there is a rendered stack with octagonal flues.
The drive gate piers, which are square on plan, are made of coursed stone rubble and topped with stepped pyramidal caps and plain plinths. The original cast iron double gates, which featured finials on the shafts, along with a short section of similar railings on either side, were removed in 1984.
