Description

The Quay and Slipway in Dittisham is likely from the 19th century. It is constructed from local stone rubble, some slate, and coursed local limestone, with dressed limestone used for the coping. The quay is narrow and located in front of the houses on The Quay, functioning as a retaining wall with projections on both the left and right sides. The left of center projection has been raised or rebuilt at the top using local limestone rubble. The right-hand projection, added around the late 19th century, is made of coursed dressed local limestone and features rounded corners. At the southern end of the quay, there is a water conduit head, and at the very southern end, a slipway runs parallel to the quay, accompanied by a retaining wall topped with pitched limestone coping.
