Description

Sunnydale Cottage is a house dating from around 1840, likely built of stone rubble and finished with stucco that is lined out. It has a hipped roof covered with asbestos tiles, featuring deep eaves and black glazed ridge tiles. The house has two rendered brick chimney stacks on the right side, topped with yellow clay pots.

The layout consists of a double depth plan with two rooms situated one behind the other, an entrance hall, and likely a staircase in a slight projection at the back on the left side. The exterior features two storeys and a basement, with an asymmetrical two-window front facing south. The windows are 19th-century sashes, with the first floor having horizontal glazing bars, all equipped with small horns. To the left, there is a doorway featuring an original 19th-century six-panel door, where the bottom panels are flush and the top two are moulded. Above the door is a rectangular overlight, and there is an attractive 19th-century wrought-iron porch with an ogee head and floral open-work on the front and lattice sides.

On the rear elevation, the wall projects slightly to the right. It has 19th-century sashes with glazing bars, one of which includes margin panes, along with a small 20th-century extension below. The property also includes 19th-century front area railings and gate-piers. The railings are mounted on a stone rubble dwarf wall and feature fleur-de-lis finials. The central pier and the terminal pier on the right are stuccoed and lined-out, with caps that have rounded ogee tops. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to retain original features and joinery.
