Description
Poole Farm House is a farmhouse that dates from the 17th century or earlier and was remodeled in the early 19th century. It is constructed of stone rubble with a rendered front and features a low pitched slate roof with gabled ends. The building has two storeys and a long range of five windows. The windows are 19th or 20th century casements, with the ground floor openings being enlarged. The original doorway, which is off centre, has been blocked, and there is a 19th century gabled porch to the left. A very tall rendered chimney stack is located off centre, with a smaller chimney stack at the southwest gable end. At the rear, there is a wing that forms an L-shaped plan, made of stone rubble and topped with a steeply pitched corrugated asbestos sheet roof that has a parapetted gable end with stone coping. The gable end features vertical and cross ventilation slits, and two windows that have been blocked due to the insertion of an internal stack. This wing appears to have originally been a barn, and there is a later outshut at the rear in the angle.
