SX 54 NE NEWTON AND NOSS MEMBLAND 9/131 Former kitchen garden walls immediately south west of Membland Garden Cottage

GV II

Kitchen garden walls to Membland Hall (demolished)on the former Revelstoke estate. Circa 1880-90. Probably by George Devey's office. Red brick in Flemish garden wall bond and with brick saddle-back coping with dentilled cornice. Square piers at the corners with moulded stone caps with ball finials. Similar piers on south side flanking round arched doorway with semi-circular gable above. Round-arched doorway on west side. The north wall is partly stone and has brick portal with rusticated arch and gable with ball finials and sundial. The walls enclose a large former kitchen garden on a sloping site.
