Description

A forge and stable range, dating from circa 1880-90 and likely designed by George Davey's Office, was converted into three cottages on the Revelstoke estate. The buildings are constructed of slate rubble with red brick dressings, and have slate roofs. They are arranged around three sides of a courtyard. Brick Dutch gable ends, set on the skew, face the road. A stone wall with red brick saddle-back coping and a pair of asymmetrically placed octagonal stone gate piers with ball finials forms the fourth side of the courtyard. Elliptically arched coach house doors in the gable ends have been blocked. The front of the property has seen little alteration, but the ranges behind have been converted into cottages and have lost most of their original features, with the exception of a ventilator on the ridge of the north range and half-hipped dormers on the south range.
