Description
Lone Pine is a former estate laundry and manager's house located on the Revelstoke estate, dating from 1888 and likely designed by George Devey's office. The building features slate rubble with white brick dressings and has slate roofs that are gabled, hipped, and half-hipped, all with deep eaves and projecting verges at the gable heads. The structure has an asymmetrical, rambling layout, with the house positioned to the north and the former laundry to the south near the road.
It is two storeys tall. The laundry section includes a large louvred ventilator turret topped with a pyramidal roof and a wrought iron finial, as well as another louvred ventilator along the ridge. There is a large glazed window in the laundry with double doors, and a coach house with a half-hipped roof and double doors. The manager's house features an oriel window in the gable and a corner doorway with a slate hood supported by brackets. The building is adorned with large white brick chimney stacks, and the stack over the laundry has round-arched red brick panels. A tablet in the gable end displays the Baring monogram and the date.
