Description
Parsonage Farmhouse is a Grade II* listed farmhouse that originated as a medieval hall house, which was later modified with an inserted floor and remodelling in the 18th century. The building is constructed from stone rubble and features an asbestos slate roof with both gabled and hipped ends. It stands two storeys high and has a range of four windows, which are modern two-light casements with glazing bars. To the right of the centre, there is a panelled and glazed door that is sheltered by a glazed porch from the 19th or 20th century. The farmhouse has rendered end and ridge chimney stacks, along with two chimney stacks on the rear wall, one of which is truncated. A notable feature is the medieval rear doorway, which has a two-centred arch and two orders of ovolo mouldings, leading to an old panelled door. At the rear, there is an outshut. Inside, the roof includes a crown-post supported by an arched braced collar roof truss and curved wind braces, with a jointed cruck truss positioned at right angles. Although one late 18th-century chimneypiece remains, the 18th-century panelling in the north end room has been removed.
