Description
Membland Villa is a house that was formerly the manager's cottage on the Revelstoke estate, dated 1882 and likely designed by George Devey's office. The building is constructed of slate rubble with red brick dressings and features a slate roof with half-hipped and gabled ends, where the verges project at the heads of the gables and the eaves are deep. The villa has an L-shaped plan and includes a half-hipped dormer topped with a terracotta finial. It is two storeys high and has a slate pentice hood at the first-floor level, as well as over the first-floor windows in the gables. The windows are casements with leaded panes. A gabled porch is diagonally set in the angle of the building, featuring a round-arched doorway and a shield with the monogram EB. There is also a hipped porch and a red brick chimney stack on the north side, along with a tablet displaying the date 1882 and a stack on the west side.
