Description
Higher Keaton Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates from the early 17th century or earlier, with remodelling in the 19th century and an early 19th-century rear wing dated 1821. The building is made of rendered stone rubble and has a slate roof with gabled ends. It is one and a half storeys tall and features a five-window range, with the higher end set back. The windows are 20th-century casements with glazing bars, and the first floor has gabled dormers. To the right of the centre, there is a two-storey gabled porch, with an inner door that is nail-studded and framed with a moulded wooden frame that has a cambered head. A central chimney stack is located to the left of the former cross passage, with additional stacks at the gable ends. The rear wing, which is two storeys high and made of rendered rubble, runs parallel to the front range. Inside, there are large stopped chamfered ceiling beams in the hall, along with chamfered joists that have carved stops. The fireplaces are blocked, and there is a staircase at the front, positioned to the side of the porch.
