Description
Penquit Manor House is a farmhouse, originally a manor house, dating to the 16th and 17th centuries and significantly altered in the late 19th century. The house is constructed of rendered stone rubble, with an asbestos slate roof featuring gabled and hipped ends. The lower end of the house is at a slightly lower level than the rest. It has two storeys and a six-window front. The windows are circa late 19th century casements with glazing bars. A small gable is located at the right end. A two-storey gabled porch with a moulded wooden inner door frame is situated to the left of centre. To the rear is a semi-circular stair turret and a rear lean-to outshut. Brick chimney stacks have been rebuilt at the gable end and on the ridge. The interior includes a wooden newel staircase to the rear, and some plain chamfered door frames with stopped jambs. The house occupies the site of a medieval manor house.
