SX874510 CLARENCE HILL 673-1/8/76 (North side) 23/10/72 No.34

GV II

House. Mid/late C18. Mixed construction; part is slate-hung, possibly over timber-framing, but front is rendered stone rubble, with ground floor lightly blocked out as ashlar with rusticated quoins each end; left end and rear stacks have rendered chimneyshafts with old pots; hipped slate roof. PLAN: Single-depth plan, 2 rooms wide. EXTERIOR: 3 storeys; symmetrical 3-window front. Most of the lower windows are probably original 12-pane sashes, but first-floor left is a C20 horned replacement without glazing bars and second floor has late C19 horned 4-pane sashes. Central doorway has low segmental-arch head and recessed top-glazed 6-panel door. Upper part of right side wall is slate-hung. INTERIOR: not inspected but likely to be of interest.
