Description
Mount Flagon House is a house that has been divided into flats, dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century, with some later 19th century and 20th century modernisation. The building is constructed of plastered stone rubble, featuring one remaining painted brick chimney shaft on the left end with old pots, and has a hipped slate roof.
The plan consists of two rooms wide with a central entrance hall. The exterior is three storeys high with a symmetrical two-window front. The plastered front is lightly blocked out to resemble ashlar stone. The central doorway features a fielded six-panel door with an overlight that includes a central glazing bar. On either side of the door are 12-pane sash windows, with the right window obscured by a late 19th century to early 20th century conservatory that has coloured glass in the margin panes. This conservatory is part of an altered verandah of uncertain date.
On the first floor, there are curving bow windows that contain curved 20-pane sash windows, while the second floor has 12-pane sashes. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest. The property also includes Nos. 1 and 2 Mount Pleasant Steps.
