Description

No. 8 Newport Street is a small house dating from the early to mid-19th century, with some modernisation in the late 20th century. It is constructed of stucco on stone rubble, featuring a right end stack with plastered brick chimney shafts and a slate roof. The building has a plan that is one room wide and one room deep.

The exterior is three storeys high with a two-window front. The stucco façade is lightly blocked out to resemble ashlar stone. It has 12-pane sash windows, and the front doorway on the left contains a 20th-century panelled door. The roof has plain eaves and is gable-ended. Although the interior has not been inspected, it is likely to be of interest. This house is part of a group of small 19th-century houses located in a narrow backstreet.
