SS 43 NE GEORGEHAM HOLE LANE, South Hole

7/135 Barn and shippon adjoining South - Hole Farmhouse on north and east side GV II

Barn and shippon adjoining South Hole Farmhouse (q.v.). Barn C18 or earlier with horse-engine house added C19. Shippon C19. Barn of roughly dressed stone at left end, rest of stone and cob with hipped slate roof. Shippon of rubble with slate roof. Barn adjoins shippon at right angles forming L-shape, with left gable end of shippon adjoining farmhouse to form 2 sides of rear courtyard. Barn has large doorway with chamfered surround with run out stops and original plank doors of 2 leaves to threshing floor. Horse-Engine house projects at right-angles above doorway with splayed ends. Massive horizontal winding beam insitu. Roof trusses of barn replaced. Shippon has 2-plank doors to left side and 5 'stable' doors to right.
