Description
Combas Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse located on Combas Lane in Georgeham, Croyde. The building is constructed from colourwashed rendered rubble and cob, topped with a slate roof featuring gable ends. It has a brick stack at the left gable end, a rubble stack with a tapering cap heightened in brick to the right, and a large projecting lateral hall stack at the rear, which is also heightened in brick and has offsets along with a small rounded bread oven.
The farmhouse has a three-cell through-passage plan, although the rear doorway is now blocked. It stands two storeys tall and features a four-window range of two-light casements. The first and third casements from the left have four panes on the left and six panes on the right, while the second and fourth have four panes in each light. The ground floor has 20th-century casements, arranged in two and three lights, with an off-centre 20th-century door. The rear of the building has 20th-century barred wood fenestration.
The lower end of the farmhouse was formerly a granary over a store-shed, but the granary has now been converted into part of the dwelling and has a corrugated asbestos roof. There is a plank door with a timber lintel. The interior of the farmhouse has been significantly altered over time.
