Description

Cholhouse Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse. It is constructed of rubble and cob walls, partly rendered, with a gable ended thatched roof. The farmhouse has three brick stacks: one axial and one at each gable end. Originally, it followed a three-room-and-through-passage plan, with the lower end positioned to the right. The hall stack backs onto the passage, whilst the inner and lower rooms each have a gable end fireplace for heating. A 19th-century outshut was added at the rear.

The front of the farmhouse has an asymmetrical three-window arrangement. The windows are circa early 20th century and feature small panes, with two- and three-light casements. To the right of the centre windows is a circa early 19th-century doorhood with a dentilled cornice supported by columns with square bases. Behind the doorhood is a 19th-century panelled and part-glazed door. To the left of the windows on the first floor is a row of three bee-boles which extend into a lean-to at that end.
