Description
The Old School House is a cottage dating from the late 18th century. It features colour-washed stone rubble walls and a thatched roof that is half-hipped on the left side and gabled on the right. The building has two end stacks, with a rubble stack at the right-hand end that projects with a brick shaft, and a brick stack at the left end.
The cottage has a two-room plan, with a larger room on the left and likely a kitchen on the right. It is two storeys high and has a regular two-window front. The windows are two-light casements, with the right-hand window on the first floor having small panes and dating from the early 20th century. To the left of this window is a mid-20th century metal-framed window. On the ground floor, there are later 20th century leaded-light casements. To the right of centre is a 20th century part-glazed door, which is sheltered by a 20th century timber porch with a thatched roof. Brick arches are present above the ground floor windows. The interior has not been inspected.
