SS 53 NE SHIRWELL

5/54 Shirwell Primary School -

School, 1830, coursed shale stone with hipped slate roof. Rectangular plan with symmetrical facade. 4-centred arch and hood-mould over a central cusped doorway with leaf and shield carvings in the spandrels. Plaque inscribed CC1830 over doorway with a horizontal pivot window with glazing bars and label hood-mould above. To each side, 2 large C20 segmental-arched window openings of 3-lights with horizontal-pivot windows with glazing bars. C20 single storey rendered extension to right.
