Description
Brightleycott Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse, with alterations in the late 18th century. The house is constructed of rendered cob and stone rubble, with a slate roof that is hipped to the left and gabled to the right. It has a large outshut to the rear, an axial brick stack, and a large off-set brick stack near the gable end. The farmhouse has a three-cell plan. The fenestration attempts symmetry on the left side, featuring sashes with 8 panes per sash on each side of a 20th-century brick porch. There are three similar sashes above. To the right, a sash with glazing bars is positioned above an inserted casement, with a slight projection in the upper wall surface. One room at this end contains fine moulded 17th-century panelling on one wall. A dairy extending at right angles is not part of the listed structure.
