Description
West Okewill Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century or earlier, which has undergone significant renovations. It features a rendered shale exterior and a gable-ended slate roof. The building has a three-cell and cross passage plan, with a later kitchen wing that projects at a right angle to the lower end.
The farmhouse is two storeys high, with the upper storey containing five windows, all of which are 20th-century casements. There is a stack at the gable end that heats the inner room, along with a large rendered lateral stack on the front wall of the 'hall', which has set-offs and a pronounced batter. A lean-to slate roof covers a projecting bay with a 20th-century casement window at the front of the hall on the right, and over the porch to the left of the stack.
A staircase turret projects to the left of the door, located at the angle of the kitchen wing. The front wall at the higher end projects and may have been rebuilt. There is a 20th-century door at the higher end with two inserted casements to the right. Inside, the former hall features chamfered floor beams with moulded stops.
