Description

This is an early 19th-century farmhouse, rendered with decorative lead rolls on the hipped slate roof and quoin pilasters featuring a Greek key motif. The building follows an L-shaped plan, incorporating a stairwell in the angle. It is two storeys high and originally had three bays. The facade is symmetrical, featuring a stucco cornice band and plinth. The front has two timber sash windows with eight panes each over a projecting, pilastered porch, also decorated with a Greek key motif and a deep cornice. A partly hidden gutter sits below. The inner doorcase mirrors the Greek key design, and a rectangular fanlight with glazing bars sits above a panelled door, reached by three-quarter-glazed outer doors via three stone steps. Two more timber sash windows, each with eight panes, flank the porch, while two further timber sash windows, each with six panes, sit above. Inside, the hall features an elliptical arch, and the staircase has a wreathed handrail and stick balusters. A ground floor room to the right boasts elliptical alcoves and an egg and dart plaster cornice. Original interior joinery is retained.
