Description
No. 26 is a house, probably from the 16th century, constructed of whitewashed roughcast rendered rubble and cob. It features a gable-ended slate roof and has a three-cell through-passage plan, with a single-storey extension at the rear lower end. The house has a rubble stack with an inward sloping cap and an extended pot at the right gable end, as well as an offset lateral hall stack that has been extended in brick.
The front of the house has a two-storey, three-window range, which includes two horizontal sliding sashes with six panes over six panes on each side of a two-light casement, each light having six panes. There is an off-centre 20th-century 'stable' door, with a sash window of three panes over three panes to the right and a fixed light with twelve panes to the left. The hall window consists of two lights with six panes each and two panes in the upper part. The lower end features a sash window with two panes over two panes.
Inside, the interior has been altered, but a roughly chamfered plank and muntin screen with peg-holes for a fixed bench remains, typically located at the opposite end of the hall from the through-passage.
