Description

No. 45 High Path is a large cottage, which was formerly two cottages, possibly dating from the 17th century. It is constructed of whitewashed rendered cob and rubble, topped with a thatch roof. The building features a rubble stack and an end stack that has been heightened in brick. It stands two storeys tall and has a late 19th-century extension at the rear.

The front of the cottage has a three-window range, consisting of two-light casements with three panes in each light, along with two sash windows with two panes over two panes to the right. To the left of the 20th-century doorway, there is a similar sash window and a four-paned casement. The sash window to the left of the door was originally the doorway to the end cottage. Inside, there is an old staircase, but the interior has been much altered. Although there is no access to the roofspace, two original trusses, which are roughly hewn and slightly curving, appear to still be in place.
