Description

Peartree Cottage is a cottage that was empty at the time of survey in 1987. It is probably from the late 17th century or 18th century. The building is made of rendered cob and stone rubble and features a thatched roof, which is gabled at the right end and half-hipped at the left end. There is a truncated shaft stack at the left end and a handmade brick shaft stack at the right end. The main block, which faces the road, is likely two rooms wide, and there is a smaller single-storey block that is set back but adjoins at the right end. The entrance leads into a modern lean-to that is attached to the set-back block. The exterior is two storeys high and has an asymmetrical three-window front with a mix of probably 20th-century small pane timber casements. The interior was not inspected. The cottage has group value with Barton View and Vicarage View located opposite.
