Description
This is a small stable with a loft above, located approximately 5 meters south of Gordons Farmhouse. It dates from the 17th century and is constructed of whitewashed cob. The roof is pantiled, featuring a small extension at the upper end that has a corrugated iron roof. The street-facing gable end includes a 3-light window with splayed mullions above a 2-light window with a timber surround. On the courtyard side, there is a low plank door accompanied by a small 3-light window to the left. This stable, along with Gordons Farm and its outbuildings, is one of the few remaining centrally located village farmhouses in Braunton, which is a nucleated settlement that still retains the open field system known as the West Field.
