Description

CHASTLETON SP23SW 1/11 Small stable approx. 15m SW of Grove Farmhouse

GV II

Stable. Probably late C18 with minor later alterations. Roughly coursed and dressed marlstone rubble with alternating angle quoins carried up to gable ends; concrete tile roof with coped verges. One storey with hayloft. Front gable has segmental-arched doorway to left and C20 casement with wood lintel to centre; central plank door to first floor in position of infilled segmental-headed opening. Left wall has C20 window with wood lintel and 2 triangular air vents. Interior. Inspection of roof structure not possible at time of resurvey (August 1987). Included for group value. [2452]
