Description
Grenemore is a farmhouse, now a house, dating from the mid-17th century with some minor later additions and alterations. It is built of regularly coursed and dressed marlstone, featuring alternating angle quoins that extend up to the gable ends. The roof is made of stone slate with coped verges, while the rear has concrete tiles. The building has two storeys and a gable-lit attic, with a four-window front. The ground floor has two-light mullion windows with dripstones, all of which are chamfered, except for the outer bays on the first floor, which have ovolo-moulded, chamfered two-light mullion windows with dripstones for the gable-lit attics.
There is a plain chamfered surround with a boarded door located between the two left windows, and a similar surround with a dripstone and a four-panel door (glazed at the top) between the two right windows. The farmhouse features integral ashlar end stacks and a ridge stack to the right of centre, all topped with moulded capping. At the rear, there is a low gabled range at right angles, which has an integral end stack and a gabled projection that likely houses a bread oven. The interior has not been inspected but is expected to be of interest.
