Description
Fox End is a cottage that likely dates from the mid-17th century and was extended in the late 20th century. It is constructed from roughly coursed limestone and marlstone rubble, featuring alternating angle quoins, and has a straw thatch roof. Originally designed with a two-room plan, the cottage was extended to the left in the late 20th century.
The building stands two storeys high with an attic. It has chamfered mullion windows, all of which are two-light except for the lower left window, which has three lights. These windows are positioned to the left and right of a central plank door that has strap hinges and is set in a chamfered surround, topped with a conical thatched hood added in the 20th century. There is a stone ridge stack, which was formerly an external end stack, located at the junction with the 20th-century addition on the left, and a raking dormer in the roof slope that lights the attic at the rear. The 20th-century extension to the left and the flat-roofed addition to the rear are not considered to have special architectural interest.
