Description

This building is a stable located approximately five metres north of number 122 on Gilling High Street. It dates from the late 17th century to early 18th century and has undergone later alterations. The structure is made of coursed rubble with a pantile roof and consists of two storeys featuring three openings on the first floor. It has quoins and a central boarded stable door set in a chamfered quoined surround. To the left of the door is a blocked window, and to the right is a stable window, both topped with flat arches. On the first floor, there is a boarded hayloft window, a blocked opening, and a boarded door leading to the loft, which is accessed by external steps to the right. The building has raised verges with reversed crowstepping and a brick stack at the left end. There are lower side additions that are not of special interest. This stable is included for its group value.
