Description

The garden walls, gate piers, and gates to Medelpad date from the 1840s. They are constructed from local stone rubble, with some sections built up against the rockface. The gate piers are smooth-rendered, while the gates are made of cast and wrought iron. The wall encloses the garden of Medelpad and features a garden gate that opens onto Dark Lane. The walls are very tall, with one section forming part of a small stable block in the rear yard of Medelpad. The square-section gate piers have a projecting string and tiered caps. The gate includes a middle rail adorned with a frieze of roundels and ogee bracing above, topped with spear finials.
