Description
The railings and wall to The Old School, located to the west of the south porch of the Church of St Mary in Barnstaple, are likely from the mid-19th century. The iron railing features uprights with heads designed as three-leaved flowers, standing on an iron base with a rounded top, and is set on a plinth of red brick. At the left end of the frontage, the railing is replaced by a stone rubble wall that has a red brick coping and upper quoins of red brick at its left end. This wall continues around the west side of the property but is interrupted in the middle by a detached mid-19th century building that is not included in this listing.
