Description

Warnicombe House is a house built in the early to mid 19th century. It features incised stucco and dry slate hipped roofs with a moulded eaves cornice and cast-iron ogee gutters. The house has rendered axial stacks topped with various old clay pots and a bellcote located centrally on the service wing. The building has a complex layout, with L-shaped reception fronts and a service wing at right angles to the rear center of the garden front, along with two short wings to the right of the service wing.

The exterior is two storeys high and has a two-window-range entrance front. It retains original 12-pane hornless sash windows. The central doorway is framed by a moulded pedimented Tuscan porch supported by square columns, leading to a pair of panelled and glazed doors, with similar inner doors set within panelled reveals. The right-hand return features four bays with original sashes, including two-storey canted bay windows in the second and fourth bays from the left, each with a central glazed door. There is also a small open-fronted summer house on the right side. The rear of the house has original windows and gable-ended wings.

The interior has not been fully inspected, but it is noted to include original window shutters, moulded architraves and panelled doors, moulded plaster ceiling cornices, and an open-well staircase with an open string and turned balusters, with the handrail wreathed over the newel.
