Description
Northernhay is a house built in the early to mid-19th century. It features stucco walls with joint-lining and rusticated quoins, topped by a gable-ended sprocketted slate roof. There are two rendered brick stacks at the gable ends. The house has a double depth plan, with a central stair hall, two main heated rooms at the front, and service rooms located behind.
The building is two storeys high with an attic and has a symmetrical three-window front. The first floor has 20th-century replica 12-pane sashes with horns and projecting keystones, while the ground floor retains original 12-pane sashes. The central entrance features an original panelled door with a fanlight above. A verandah runs along the front wall, supported by wooden trellised supports and featuring a concave glass roof, with a central pediment that forms a glazed porch with a dentilled wood surround. At the left-hand end, there is a large conservatory, likely added in the late 19th century. The interior has not been inspected.
