Description

Forge Cottage is a small house dating from the early 18th century. It features rendered cob walls with some rubble and has a deep hipped corrugated iron roof. The building has two rubble stacks, one located at the left gable end and another lateral stack at the rear, both topped with brick shafts. The layout is a double depth plan with two rooms on either side of a central entrance hall or passage. The front left room is heated by the gable end stack, while the rear right room, likely the kitchen, is heated by the rear lateral stack. The house is two storeys high and has a regular two-window front with 20th-century two-light casements that have small panes. The wide central door is a 19th-century panelled design with a flat doorhood above. The interior has not been inspected.
