Description
Aldridge Mill Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early to mid 19th century. It is constructed of stone rubble and features a slate roof with gabled ends and end stacks that have brick shafts. The building has a T-shaped plan, with the main range consisting of two principal rooms on either side of a central entrance. A rear wing, which was formerly a mill, extends at right angles to the main range, although the machinery is no longer present.
The exterior is two storeys high and has a symmetrical three-bay front. The central entrance features a 19th-century plank front door, flanked by 19th-century three-light casements, each with three panes per light. The rear wing retains low stone arches beneath which the leat used to run, and there is a lean-to with a corrugated iron roof adjoining the rear wing. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be complete, judging by the unaltered exterior. The farmhouse forms a good group with the adjacent farm buildings along the roadside.
