Description

Iron Mill Bridge is a road bridge that crosses the Iron Mill Stream, likely built in the early 19th century. It is constructed of stone rubble and features a single span with a segmental arch. On the downstream side, there is a smaller arch that appears to function as a flood arch, although there is no corresponding arch on the upstream side. The bridge was originally built without parapets, but 20th-century metal balustrades have since been added. The Iron Mill Stream was previously known as the River Woodburn, and no documentary evidence of iron smelting in the area has been found.
