Description
No. 25 is a house with attached workshops located on Higher Street in Cullompton. The house dates from around 1830, while the workshops were built in the late 19th or early 20th century. The house is constructed of cob with a stone plinth and roughcast finish, topped by a gabled-end slate roof. The workshops are weatherboarded and also have slate roofs.
The building is two storeys high. The front features a symmetrical arrangement of three windows, with a brick chimney stack at the right end. There is a moulded gutter box adorned with medallions. On the first floor, there are three-light windows with square-leaded surrounds, where each light is round-headed. The ground floor has canted bays on either side of the porch, each with tented roofs, arranged in a 1:2:1 pattern, and each light is round-headed as well. The porch has a tented canopy supported by shaped brackets and features planked reveals. The gable ends display wavy bargeboarding.
At the rear, the two-storey workshops run parallel to the house and return to meet its rear. These workshops are weatherboarded and have continuous glazing on each storey. Four of the first-floor windows contain 20 leaded panes per light.
