Description

A terrace of five houses, built around the 1840s. The houses are constructed with a solid internal wall and have been stuccoed, with the exception of number 64, which is rendered. They have gabled slate roofs with red ridge tiles. The chimneys have red brick shafts with bands, and some retain round, tapering terracotta chimneypots. Cast iron rainwater pipes are also present.

The houses have a rectangular plan, with each house being one room wide and two rooms deep. A central chimney stack provides heating for each room. The main entrances are located in the side returns of numbers 58 and 66.

The front of the terrace is symmetrical, with three storeys and a basement. The front elevation has ten windows, with the end bays featuring gables and pediments. A projecting cornice runs along the bays between the gables, although this is missing from number 64. The ground floor windows are two-light casements with margin panes and glazing bars. The upper floors have hornless sash windows. Some original glazing bars remain at number 58 (first floor), number 60 (second floor), and in the bottom sashes of the second-floor windows of number 62.

A projecting Greek Doric porch with fluted columns and pilasters, an entablature, and a fanlight over the door is located on the left return of number 58. The door itself is six-panelled, with glazed upper panels and narrow side lights. Several twelve-pane hornless sash windows remain on the rear of the terrace and in the side returns. A glass-roofed verandah with trellis sides runs the length of the terrace.

Internally, some wooden window shutters remain on ground-floor windows, and other original features may survive.
