Description

Comb in Hedge is a cottage dating from around the 16th century. It is constructed from plastered and white-washed stone rubble and cob, topped with a thatched roof that features half hipped and gabled ends. The building has two storeys, with a very small wood mullion window on the first floor and a 19th-century casement window on the ground floor. There is a central plank door and a brick chimney stack located at the gable end. A lean-to is present at the north-west end of the cottage. Inside, the cottage features a heavy chamfered ceiling beam, a fireplace with a chamfered timber bressummer, and jointed cruck trusses.
