Description
The gates and adjoining railings, located approximately 250 metres northwest of Rockbeare Court, date from around 1790. They consist of wrought iron gates, gate posts, and railings, complemented by granite ashlar terminal piers. The quadrant railed fences between the terminal piers recess the double gates from the sides and feature moulded caps topped with balls. The top rails of the iron quadrant fences curve broadly and include a series of spear-headed upright panels with lattice work, framed by bands of circles and adorned with an ornate lyre pattern. Additionally, the fences incorporate a lock-bar that displays Vitruvian scroll decoration.
