SY 09 NW ROCKBEARE ROCKBEARE

1/125 Gates and adjoining railings - approximately 250 metres north- west of Rockbeare Court GV II

Gates and adjoining railings from road to drive of Rockbeare Court. Circa 1790. Wrought iron gates, gate posts and railings; granite ashlar terminal piers. Between the terminal piers quadrant railed fences recess the double gates from the sides. They have moulded caps surmounted by balls. The top rails of the iron quadrant fences droop in broad curves and contain a series of spear-headed upright panels of lattice work framed by bands of circles and have ornate lyre-pattern. They are built in the same style as the quadrant fences but also include a lock-bar containing Vitruvian scroll decoration.
