Description

"Spring Garden," built around 1850, is a detached house with two storeys and a semi-basement, featuring a stucco façade. The building has flanking pilaster strips and a frieze with a moulded string below. There is a moulded string at the impost level of the ground floor windows, which have a block sill course. The low pitch gable end slate roof has paired brackets supporting the projecting eaves.

The symmetrical elevation includes three round-headed, two-light casement windows on the first floor, with the center window serving as a French door leading onto the porch roof. On the ground floor, there are two similar but taller windows with architraves above. The basement features two sash windows with intact glazing bars.

An enclosed stucco porch, raised on a plinth, has round-headed side lights with marginal glazing and an architrave above. Tuscan pilasters are present at the corners and along the wall, topped with an entablature and blocking course. A flight of six steps leads up to the entrance door, which consists of four flush panels and two glazed panels, topped with a semi-circular fanlight featuring radial glazing.

To the north, there is a screen wall that includes two round-headed windows and a door. To the south, a small coach house is linked to the main house by the screen wall, featuring a round-headed hatchway on the first floor and a hipped slate roof.
