Description

Redland Close is a house built around 1840, designed in the Italianate style. It features stucco exterior, lateral stacks, and a slate hipped roof, with a double-depth plan. The building has three storeys and a basement, arranged in a three-window range. The main facade faces the garden at the rear and is symmetrical, with a recessed center. It includes a banded ground floor leading to a plat band, recessed corners, and upper windows set in recessed panels, along with overhanging eaves.

The entrance consists of a tripartite doorway with carved capitals and a 20th-century door, flanked by outer French windows. On the first floor, there is a central wrought-iron verandah with French windows, and the flanking windows feature architraves, console cornices, and sill blocks for 8/8-pane sashes with margin panes. The second-floor windows also have architraves and are 4/8-pane sashes. The road entrance is set within a splayed rubble wall, featuring a keyed Venetian doorway and a six-panel door.

Inside, there is a stone-flagged lobby leading to a central stair hall, which includes a dogleg winder stair with stick balusters and a ramped rail. A similar winder stair with a wreathed rail leads down to the garden lobby, separated by a panelled arch with guilloche moulding. The interior also features panelled reveals and six-panel doors.
