Description

The pair of semi-detached houses at Nos 1 and 2 Vicarage Road date from approximately 1840 to 1850. They are constructed of stucco and feature three storeys, with flanking rusticated pilaster strips and paired gables adorned with openwork bargeboards. No. 1 has modern detailing. No. 2 retains octagonal chimney pots. Each house has a three-storey canted bay with three sash windows on each floor, and moulded cornices. Entrances are located within single-storey bays to the side. No. 2 retains a three-centred arched porch with a rusticated surround, a recessed door, and a large rectangular, glazed fanlight above the door. Nos 1 and 2 are historically considered as a group with the Radway Guest House.
