Description
The premises of Regward and Co Ltd is an early 19th century painted brick corner building featuring a curved corner. It has a slate roof with a hipped end and stands three storeys tall, with a four-window range. The windows are sashes with glazing bars, flat brick arches, and keystones. On the corner, there is a mid-19th century shop front adorned with fluted pilasters and an entablature that has console brackets supporting the cornice. To the right, there is a two-storey, one-window wing that is stuccoed and includes a pilastered doorcase. This building was once the home of G.P.R. Pulman, the author of "The Book of the Axe," a 19th century study of the topography and history of the Axe Valley. The building is included for its group value.
