Description

The former Regent Foundry, now converted into flats, was built around 1800, with additions from the 19th century and alterations in the 20th century. Constructed of brick, it has a hipped slate roof. The building has a three-story, L-shaped layout that encloses a courtyard. The Catherine Street elevation features a five-window front with renewed 25-pane pivoting windows in the original openings, featuring stone sills and flat-arched heads. A shop front on the right side has Greek key decoration incised into the pilasters. A lower, two-story range, likely added somewhat later, is situated to the right, containing a segmentally-arched wide entrance into the courtyard and four renewed windows with flat-arched stone heads and sills. The Pierce Street side displays a ten-window range with similar detailing. A lower nine-window range beyond was largely rebuilt but incorporates two wide, parallel gables with clerestory lights in the roof.
