Description
Nos 12 and 14 Regent Place is a three-storey red brick manufactory built around 1883, likely designed by architect A E Hamblin. The building features stone sills and window heads, along with moulded brickwork dressings. Its symmetrical Gothic façade has eight flat bays and a consistent theme of arched windows. There are two bay gables on either side of a three-bay central gable. The ground floor has arcaded windows with pointed arches leading to doorways, all adorned with moulded brickwork and original door furniture. The first floor showcases a three-centred arch arcade of windows on a sill band, with similar detailing in paired and tripled groupings under the gables on the second floor. The tympana of the second-floor windows display scalloped brickwork, and the central gable includes a stone quatrefoil aperture for a hoist. The windows are fitted with plate glass glazing and small panes in the top lights, and the gable end features a tiled roof. The high-quality brickwork and mouldings reflect the architectural style typical of Birmingham in the 1880s.
