Description
51 Vittoria Street is a Grade II listed building dating from around 1820 to 1830. This three-storey former townhouse is constructed of red brick and features a one-bay front facing Vittoria Street, with a three-bay return on the second and third storeys to Regent Place. It is likely part of a terrace that has since been rebuilt. The building has a stucco plinth, a first-floor sill band, and an eaves band beneath a hipped slate roof.
The corner of the ground floor has been rebuilt with a curve that leads up to a deep stucco fascia band running below the sill course. The windows are revealed glazing bar sashes, supported by shallow consoles that hold thin cornices, and are flanked by stucco friezes adorned with canted love knot ornament. The ground floor windows at the corner were altered around 1870 to 1880, featuring segmental polychrome brick arches.
The doorway to Regent Place is round-headed, with an inset doorcase made of panelled pilaster strips and an archivolt arch. It has panelled reveals and a soffit, along with a six-panel door topped by a plain fanlight.
