Description

This is a headstone dated 1779, located approximately 1.5 metres south-east of the porch of the Church of St Mary in Rockbeare. It commemorates Thomas Toby and is made of limestone. The upright slab stands about 700 mm high and features a wave-shaped head. The word "here" is inscribed in Gothic lettering, while the remainder of the inscription uses Roman Serif upper and lower case lettering, noting the burial of Thomas Toby in 1779.
